  1. Long ago the people had lots of amusements and some of them were very different from those of the people nowadays. They used to play cards and it is not for pennies and halfpennies like now hens, ducks, cows, calves, hens, chickens and many other animals but especially fowls. They used have no dancing in the night but from dinner-time until milking-time that is until milking-time about six o'clock in the evening.
    They would also learn all kinds of dancing such as the jig the side-step, the horn-pipe and lots of other dances. At six o'clock they used to come home and milk the cows, then they would strain the milk and set it. After having the supper eaten and the ware washed they would sit down near
