  1. The fishing industry in which the people of the maritime countries of Ireland subsisted is now in a poor condition owing to the ravages of France trawlers off our coast a thing of the past. So plentiful were salmon some years ago in the village of Ballylongford that a Spring tide broke in to a house where the owner was in bed he put out his hand for his clothes when he saw all the water and what did he catch but a salmon.
