As I roved out one evening in the harvest time I overtook two females down the Narrow Line, To hear their conversation I certainly did stay, When one of them smiled and said '' Won't you come along this way? '' 2. I gave consent with her I went Down the line a piece, Said I '' Fair dame what is your name? And where is your abode? '' 3. On yonder hill our house stands still '' Where Heuston has us in Night and day we have fine play With all the policemen. My father is an emergency man and Banks it in his name To mind two evicted farms To this country we came.'' 4. The blood did boil in all my veins The truth I will relate. Said I , '' Fair dame, do not me blame For now I do you hate. Too mind two evicted farms is cruel tyranny Take my advice, if you are wise And leave this country.'' 5. Her eyes lit like fire and at me she now flew, '' To leave this Country is a thing we will not do. This is a fine country and the police we adore, We intend to have fine value on the road to Ballinamore.'' '' Croppy was the watch woman the truth I will pen down And when all was over she claimed half-a-crown. I saw two police coming I had to go away If I could stay much longer I could tell you ten times more What she said another evening, one side of Newtowngore.''
