    Buying and selling was carried on after Mass and is still in the "seven day license" shops by the country people who spare a day and a long journey by so-doing. Groceries was the usual commodity sold.
    Money was not always given for goods, but farm produce, labour, turf and timber were given in exchange.
    Mr L. Smith of [?] told me that he used to hear his father tell of the famine days when Danield O'Connel[?] provided food to be distributed at the church doors on Sunday.
