  1. There was once an English man and an Irishman crossing a bridge over a deep river. There was a swallow's nest down at the bottom of the bridge near the water. The Englishman asked the Irishman to hold him by the feet over the bridge until he saw the nest. The Irishman did as he was told. After a while he got tired and said "hold on yourself till I spit on my fists", the Englishman fell into the river then and was drowned.
