  2. Long ago a gander used to be given as a cure for "thrush". When any person in the house used to get the disease some other one used to get the gander and used to let the gander breathe into the person's mouth. This used to be done for nine mornings. They used also use the food left behind by a ferret, for the whooping-cough. They used to give milk to the ferret to drink and what the ferret used to live behind they used to give it to the sick
