  1. There are several fields in my father's farm which have special names. The name of one of the fields is
    GORTMÓR
    so called because it is a very big field containing seven acres

    GORTNAGREASAIHE
    the field of the shoemaker, so called because every night the little shoemaker sits there to mend his shoes. This field contains two acres.

    GORTNA - PÓLE
    or Póles field so called, because long ago a man named Póle lived in a little house in that field. It contains two acres and a half.

    GORTNA - AITNE
    or the field of the furze, so called because there is a lot of furze in it

    CROCÁNN NA gCEARC
    or the hill of the hens, so called because there is a big wood there, and the fox has his den there, and all the hens he can get he brings them there and eats them in his den. This field contains two acres.

    SEANKILL
    so called because long ago there was a church in that field. It contains about one acre
