is generally calculated at the rate of threepence to the pound. When a bargain is made the seller strikes the buyers hand and other men by spitting on their hands. When an animal is sold the buyer marks the animals sometimes with mud and other clip some of the hair off the beasts right hip with a scissors, and more with red chalk, that is a sign that the animal is bought. The halter is given away with the animal, but it is not given with a bull as people say it is bad luck to give a halter and also the ring should not be taken out of the bulls nose. The biggest fairs are held on the eight of May and the twelfth of November, in Manorhamilton. There are no special fairs held for any particular kind of animals, in this Locality.
