If the water in the river is black or if there is a loud noise from the falls it is a sign of rain.
If the rain rises on St. Swithin's bay provisions will be dearer and if it falls provisions will be cheaper.
Transcribed by a member of our volunteer transcription project.
  2. If the soot falls from the chimney it is a sign of rain.
When the sky is red in the evening it is a sign of frost.
When seaweed is dry and hard it is the sign of dry weather but if it gets damp it is the sign of rain.
