Long ago when people had to travel four or five to Manner-Hamilton as there were no country shops as there are nowadays. sometimes they had to travel to Sligo which is about twenty miles from here. They carried with them a firkin of butter which contained about ninty pounds. On their return they carried about half a hundred of groceries wich did them for a week.
When a person is dead on that district there is generally no work done only shufling about the house.
When a beast is sold there is generally a few shillings gave back as a luck penny.
In all district there are now two or three country shops long ago there were none in them there are all groceries to be sold. By Kathleen A.Ms Partlin
