- (continued from previous page)John Clancy, a local hunter, was passed by at the time and he was told that a girl had fallen down into the cave. He ran to the top of a rock and told what had happened and shouted for ropes and help. Immediately the news was spread and a crowd of people gathered to the spot.
The Priest and Doctor were sent for. News was sent to Manorhamilton and Sergeant Scott from Kiltyclogher who was acting as Sponsor for the Superintendents baby in Monorhamilton agreed to come out. When he arrived at Teampull he said he would go down into the cave. There was a rope tied to his waist and he was lowred into the cave. He brought another rope with him. When he got to the bottom he tied the other rope around the girls body.
The people at the top of te cave were to pull up this rope now. When it was about half way up it got caught. Terenc Kerigan agreed to go down then. He relieved the body Finally it was got out of the cave.
The remains were brought to Manorhamilton in the ambulance car that night where an inquest was held the next day.- Collector
