    (continued from previous page)
He shook hands to his friends,
    And he then went away,
    The morning was hot,
And he had a long way to go,
So he had a big pint,
    Whenhe reached Ballymoe,
He then lit his pipe, And had a good smoke,
    To walk to Roscommon,
    Is no easy joke,
When he arrived at the barrack,
    IN the evening twas late,
And the sentry halted poor Pat at the gate,
    He told him his story
    And things were all right,
    So I'm safe and sound
    Says the brave Paddy Knight.
