    When the times they were bad,
    And things were goin hard,
    On a poor workin lad,
    The roads were dug up,
    and the bridges blown down,
    And the porter was scarce,
    All around Williamstown.

    The brave I.R.A worked hard night and day,
    To stop Mac Keons army,
    From coming the way,
    Now blowing up bridges,
    This work isent right,
    So I'll join the Free State,
    Said the brave Paddy Knight.
