- The most harmful of the weeds growing on the farm are, Dockleaves, Ferns, Scutch or known as Couchgrass, Búachailleáns, Thistles, Dandelions, Súile Buidhe, or Práiseach, Crádáns, Buachaill-an-tuighe,Blioscáins, Ragweed, Chickenweed.
The nettles and dockleaves grow on rich land and spread rapidly and in that way they impoverish the soil.
The Ragweed grows in the woods and on hedges. In former times it was used as a cure for sore-throats.
