They got back some of it, and it was a pathetic gesture to see one of the Laurences mortgaging his estate to buy back the land that once was his, and getting it on the papers to be given around free to the whole parish. It was the proud beast of a Seymour, to a person who had a very good case to go to law with him. 'If you go to law with a Seymour or a Laurence you will pay your owns costs'. Seymour and Laurence had a great law-suit over the right way to Belview. Seymour won, but the people do not know if the lawyers got paid or not. The present owner of Billimore is without issue and it looks as if the Seymour family will finish in this generation as well as the Laurences. The Eyres
