- Long, long ago, there lived an old man and woman with their son. Their son got married and the four of them lived together. There was a spring well behind their house and one day the old woman went out to the well.
She thought to herself that if there was a child born to them, and if he was playing in the yard he might fall into the well and get drowned.
She sat down beside the well and began to cry. The old man came out and asked her why she was crying. The old woman (came) told him the reason and he began to cry also. Then their son's wife came out and they told her the same story and she began to cry. The son came out and he asked them why they were crying and they told him the story and he began to laugh.
He said that he would buy a new pair of strong boots and he would keep travelling until the boots would be worn and if he did not find three bigger fools while he would be travelling they would be the three biggest fools in the world.
