  1. Long ago people used to go barefoot until they were fourteen years of age. Children go barefoot in the Summer now. Boots were repaired in this district by a man named Peter McKeigue. The trade was not in the McKeigue family. Leather was never made localy. Long ago there were a lot of bootmakers in this locality.
