about half an hour. It is worked by the hand. When the butter is taken from the churn it is washed and salted. Years ago the people used to say that other people used to steal the butter from them and then they used to put a coal of fire under the churn or put salt into it so that the butter could not be stolen. It is said that the drass of the churn is a cure for wild-fire.
