ghosts cannot cross the water. So he made his way to the river that is running past Denis Gleavy's house and the dog followed him to the bank of the river and disappeared. After a while he looked back again and he looked, he saw a ball of fire going across the bog.
There are stories told of animals who live in rivers. they are said to be like dogs. They have a deep black colour and they are about the height of three month old pups. The old people say that if a person were walking beside the bank of the river at night these animals would catch him by the leg and draw him into the river.
