  1. Once upon a time there lived a man who had plenty of money. There was a thief about the place and the thief bet him a hundred pounds sterling that he would take the sheet from under him that night.
    The thief went away then and in the middle of the the night he got a deadman and put him down the chimney on a rope and the man of the house was standing at the room door with a gun in his hand.
    He shot the dead nam and got a spade and burried him. But during the time he was burying the man the thief went and took the sheet off the bed
