If anyone is churning, and a person comes in, this stranger should take a brash or two with the churn, as the old people called it.
The old folk believed in butter having been taken off the milk by being begrudged, hence the custom of saying on entereing a house especially if churning is in progress - "Good luck to your work".
Some people say it is very unlucky yo wear green.
If one magpie sits on the road before you it is unlucky.
If you dream of a wedding it is ill-luck, and if you dream of a funeral it is good luck.
A shooting star beside a house is unlucky.
A black cat is lucky and if one leaves you it is unlucky.
