Boiled bog bean cured every thing, and when taken in the spring it was supposed to purify the blood, and keep the person free from diseases for the rest of the year. It was gathered in the bogs, was washed, and boiled four hours. It was then strained, and bottled. A glass of this was taken each morning before breakfast.
Garlic was a cure for the cold when taken hot. It was stewed in a saucer at the fire, and was taken before going to bed.
When anyone got cut the people looked for a spiders web, and placed it on the cut to stop the blood from flowing.
The water in which potatoes were boiled was supposed to clean cuts, and keep them safe from poison.
