    and once a week in winter. We use the buttermilk for making bread and for feeding pigs. Mother churns and we all help.
    There lived once in the Illies, near Buncrana a woman called Miss Mc Laughlin. She was a sister of Mr. William Mac Laughlin of Fahan. She had two cows a black cow and a white cow. Every night she tied a briar around the white cow's head. Once she had very little milk when she was preparing to churn. Her servant wanted to do the churn but she would not let him. She put on a cap which she called her "Wishing Cap" and began to churn. When she had finished the churn was full of butter.
