    Finn, through the woods on the demense. One day, Sir Samuel met him on this path and challenged his right to walk there, it being private property - accused him of trespassing and ordered him off. In the course of the heated exchanges which followed, the priest foretold the downfall of the Hayes. Sir Samuel himself would die, he said, without issue and in a few short years not one of his name would remain to worry about who walked the paths and avenues of Drumboe. How the priests prophecy was fulfilled is told on page.

He used to go the rounds of the two towns of Ballybofey and Stranorlar and their immediate neighbourhood each night at a certain time in order to see that all his flock were within doors at a reasonable hour.
