    all her woollen goods and make blankets also.
    Paddy Mc Lean and Michael Mc Elwaine of Knocknafaugher were two famous thatchers. They used to tie the thatch down on the houses with boiled briars.
    Pat Mc Lean used to make all his own ropes. He made them out of rushes and straw.
    Mick Mc Elwaine used to make barrells, churns, and tubs.
    The old people made all their pot-hooks out of wire and also their nails.
    The people used to dye their clothes with crottle which they got growing on the rocks and also logwood.
    Hugh Hunter of Ards was a famous fowler.
    The old people used to burn lime. They would first g to the strand and gather cockles and burn the shells and make lime of them. John Mc Ginley of Swillybrin used to burn lime like this.
    John Hagney used to make whips. He lived in Swillybrin too.
    Poteen-making was another great practice. There was a still house in John Herrity's Hill in Knocknafaugher and also in other places in Knocknafaugher.
