- About sixty years ago, there was a young stiller named Pat Mc Fadden Roshine and although the police often saw him leaving the still-house and often carrying a five gallon jar of poteen he was never captured, and he openly boasted there was no policeman in the force who would catch him. So the district inspector who then resided at Dunfanaghy took up the challenge. Bets were laid on both sides and the conditions were that Mc Fadden should carry an empty five gallon jar and get twenty paces of a start. The Superintendant got one of the best runners in the force and the race started on the Public road in Kildarragh at ten o'clock a.m. and by eleven a.m. this famous policeman named Cullie returned to the top of the mountain having inside one hour sight of Mc Fadden.
