- (continued from previous page)shepherd was herding his flock of sheep around the mountain, he crossed a rugged part of it to gather up his sheep, and as he was crossing it he heard strange noises which he supposed were fairies. On looking in the direction of the noises the shepherd saw a cave and forgetting about the noises he went up into the cave. When he entered it heard the same noises as before but much louder. Then the noise died away and suddenly a cloud of smoke appeared but it disappeared as quickly as it came. The shepherd was a very courageous man and went further into the cave when all at once he saw a large earthenware crock brimful of gold coins. He was so delighted that all fear left him and he made an attempt to reach for the gold. But suddenly a dark haired man appeared with a bayonet and shield. This man tried to kill the shepherd saying "The person who interferes with this gold will feel the effects of this bayonet".
