It is a sign of rain to see the swallows fly low.
Or when a mist comes rolling down the side of Muckish.
Other signs of rain are:-
To hear the cricket sing,
To see a blue flame in the fire at night,
When the stars grow dim and some of them disappear,
At a waterfall or river, if you hear the water sounding up-wards, it is a sign of bad weather, but if it sounds down it is a sign of good weather.
If the wind is from the East, rain always falls when it changes from that "airt".
A rainbow in the morning is a sign of rain during the remainder of the day.
When the gulls fly inland,
When the crows fly south,
When soot falls down the chimney,
Or when the walls or floors "sweat",
When the gulls are heard screaming,
Or if mice are heard running around and squeaking during the night.
Again if a horse looks all around him, and then up to the sky and gives himself a shake, when he is let out to grass.(continues on next page)
