   I I was born and bred in Bridgetown. In the County Donegal. And when I said good bye to it, My heart it seemed to fall. II As I stood upon the platform, Waiting on the train, Thinking to myself, That I might never come back again. III I said good bye to all my friends, As the tears bedimmed my eyes. When I thought of my old friend’s at home, My heart it gave a sigh. IV As the train zipped on through Ulster, My thoughts were still at home. Thinking of many others, Who further still did roam. V That night the boat rocked to and fro, As the hours passed slowly by. When I thought of my old friend’s at home, It almost made me cry.
