  1. Song (continued)

I was born and bred in Bridgetown. In the County Donegal.

    (continued from previous page)
    VI
But I had to get to Surrey,
    The night being very dark.
And when I got to Heysham,
    I wanted to turn back.
    VII
    I’m living now in Surrey,
    Amongst its hills and brays,
But my heart is still in Erin [?],
    Amongst its Irish ways.
    VIII
May God bless all my friend’s to night [sic],
    Relations one and all.
And may they thrive in happiness,
    In far off Donegal.
    VIIII [sic]
I’ll drink a health to Erin,
AS I have no more time to spend.
So good bye to all my comrades,
To each tale there is an end.
