- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)be that of a great giant who was buried there. The townland takes its name “Labbinlee” after it.
There is a fort in the vicinity called “Darby’s Fort,” taking its name from an old man called Darby Lunny who lived there, long ago.
The townland next to Lissahully is called Fortwilliam. It is supposed to have been one of the forts of William Prince of Orange, when his soldiers were laying siege to Ballyshannon. The next townland is Camlin and it is supposed to have taken its name from a man called Camlin Boyle who owned the lands, on which the Castle is built. This Castle is supposed to be haunted and up to the present day, the young folk dread approaching it after dark.
Next to Camlin is Kileen which means the “little church.” It is supposed that in the Penal days, when the priests were hunted down, they used to say Mass in this small church.
