  1. Bird Lore.
    The birds common in this district are the crow, jackdaw, raven, rook, blackbird, magpie, starling, thrush, jay, chaffinch, goldfinch, bullfinch, green linnet, grey linnet, mud lark, tit lark, sea lark, sky lark, robin, wagtail, yellowhammer, swallow, house sparrow, hedge sparrow, corncrake, cuckoo, stonechat, stone picker, wren, pheasant, snipe, wild goose, wild swan, crane, curlew and plover.
    Besides these there are also many sea birds. These include various kinds of seagulls the black diver, gannet, cormorant, shag, muirr, wild duck, sandpiper, rock pigeon, sea parrot, sea pie, loo, and some others.
    The birds that migrate are the swallow which comes about May and goes to warm countries about
