- My father sows about two acres of potatoes every year. Most farmers sow the potatoes in drills.
The farmers plough the land first. Then they harrow it. Then they open the drills. Then there is manure put on the middle of the drills. They draw it out in carts to the field. Another person spreads the manure with a hay fork or with a grape. There is usually another person planting the potatoes, after the person that is spreading.
