    8th February 1938
    There are baskets made in my district.John Gordon , Gort Duff , Crossmolina makes them .He grows the rods in his garden .When the rods are cut first they are green .There are strong ones and weak ones.The strong ones are for making creels and scollops. The weak ones are for making baskets.
    He boils them first in a pot with water.When they are boiled he leaves them a while to cool.Then he peels the skin off them.They are white as snow.
