  1. Herbs are used to cure a lot of ailments in this district. Here are a few of them. Mountain sage is used for colds it is boiled and a cup of the juice is taken every morning fasting. Water cress is good for a bad heart if it is eaten raw with salt. There is a leaf called a slanlus, which is good for a sore finger, if it is put to the sore it cures it. To point a thorn of a gooseberry bush to your eye is good for a sore eye. Wax is good for sore hands and fingers, it is heated to the fire and is put on the sore and a cloth is put on it, it draws and cures. Soot is good for corns if it is rubbed on a cloth and put to the corn. The stem of a buttercup is good for rheumatism.
    The cure for shin-cough is to give the person who is sick the leavings of a ferret. The cure for warts is to get a snail and hang him on a thorn, as the snail is withering away the warts will wither. The cure
