  1. Houses in the Olden times.
    The houses in the villages around the school to-day are not like the houses of long ago.
    The houses long ago were made of sods and sticks and they were thatched. The walls were made of sods and the roof of sticks and thatch. People got the sods or scraws on the mountain or in the bog and the sticks in the woods and the thatch was straw or rushes.
    There was an outshot in the kitchen for the bed, the posts of the bed were built in in the walls. The beds were made of boards and sticks over which was straw and bags were over the straw then a feather tick was over these. There
