As soon as he got the opportunity he went to the three old hags and said to the first "Why is your foot so big?" "Well" she said "When I was young I got married to a very cruel man who kept me spinning all the days of my life and all the blood of my body went into my foot." "And why is your hand so big?" asked the prince of the second. "My story is the same" she said "only that I was kept weaving until all the blood of my body went into my foot." "And why is your nose so big" asked the prince of the second. "Their husbands were all right comparing to mine" said the third, he kept me sewing all the days of my life until all the blood in my head went into my nose. When the prince heard this he said "My wife is not to spin, I weave or sew."The new queen lived very happy for many years afterwards and soon leaned to be a good housekeeper. People said that it was fairies that did the work for her because her mother used to swap and leave a can of fresh water on the table before she went to bed.(continues on next page)
