    About a year afterwards they were cutting the hill of Bracklagh, at the Mile Bush one mile from Ballyhaunis. Fifty men were working on the job and the ganger was Mr. Thomas Biesty of Carrowkeel, who was a bailiff for Mr. Taafe. Tom Biesty had a horse and everybody admired him for his strength. He was called Capall Bán. One day at the bush of Bracklagh Capall Bán had a ton of sand behind him on the cart, and he would not pull the load. Paddy Frank said "Take out Capall Bán and I shall draw it myself". They did so and he drew the load of sand to the top of the hill.
