  1. There are not many stories of hidden treasure in this district. No treasure was buried by any human being. The leipreachaun is said to have buried a pot of gold in a field belonging to Thomas Tarpey of Bekan but Thomas Tarpey or his father before him would not allow any one to dig up the treasure.
    A man named Molloney of Bekan dreamt that there was half a horse-shoe and some coppers buried under the one-mile bush on the Brackhlagh road. For three nights in succession he dreamt about this and asking an old man he was told it must be true. The next
