  1. The farmers of this locality attend the monthly fairs of Ballyhaunis and Claremorris. The largest fairs of Ballyhaunis occur on the 16th March, 14th May, and 29th October. A large number of buyers come to these fairs and prices are usually good. The largest pig fair occurs in September.
    No fairs are held in the country now but long ago a fair was held in Ballina-Costello near Coogue.
    Farmers from here, that mean to attend the fair, leave between the hours of five and six a.m. If it is cattle he has he goes to the fair green, if sheep, horses or bonhams he stays in
