Instead of going to the shoemaker as the people do now the shoemakers and talors went from house to house and stayed there till they had the work completed for the family of the house. A tradition in this district is to leave the trade to the son that is the most capable. People that are lame usually go in to be a tailor or a shoemaker.
    Clogs are worn locally during winter and are bought in shops. No person made them around here.
