  1. In every part of Ireland there are certain emblems and objects of value. On Saint Bridget's Day people make crosses of rushes and put them hanging in some part of the house.
    On the day before Saint Patrick's Day the boys and men go round gathering money from the people. On St. John's night the people light a fire in honour of St. John.
    There is a cross on the Ballindine road which marks out the place of a soldier's death.
