  1. The name of my home district is Claremorris. It is in the parish of Cill Colman. There are about one hundred and eighty families in the district and about one thousand people.
    Prendergast is the most common family name in the district. The majority of the houses are slated.
    The town got its name from a chieftain, Morris Prendergast who lived in it. Claremorris or Morris Clare it can be called.
    The houses are more numerous now than ever they were. The townlands are mentioned in probverbs.
    "Murneen, Curneen and Coilcebough are the three worst villages in County Mayo".
