    a person has some unusual luck on a certain day and this is what is termed a lucky day, for instance, Friday is generally believed to be the luckiest day of the week. It is a notable thing that practically everyone who has any intention of changing house does so, if possible, on a Friday. Saturday is a very unlucky day for changing house as the old proverb says, "A Saturday flitting is a short sitting." If a person is seriously ill and has been given permission to get up for the first time, it is believed to be bad for the patient to do so on Saturday.
    Shrove Tuesday is noted for the sprinkling of salt to keep the ladies fresh. There is usually a feast on that night because it is just before Lent. It is considered not correct to use
