  2. The appliance used in my young days for loading a cock (tram or tramp) of hay onto a cart was known as Aunt Sally. 3 long wooden poles about 25' high joined at top. Small wheel for travelling fitted to base of each pole. Poles held in place by 3 chains a,b and c. Chain c can be opened to allow Aunt Sally to take up position so that the apex of the tripod (from wh hangs a pulley-block) is vertically above apex of the cock to be lifted. 2 iron bars of wh 2 ends are shown A and B) are driven in under the cock. Chain passed through pulley-block are attached; horse is yoked out of cable X and up goes your cock. Cart is back in under (after opening chain c). Cock is let down and cart, drawn off and Aunt Sally

    Drawing is defective. The 2 cables A and B meet too near the pulley.
    The iron bar A-B had to be pushed in from one side. A similar one crossed it at rt angles under cock also
