Long ago they used make candles of bog deal. They used to split the bog deal up in thin pieces and tie them and put oil on them and light them. Long ago they used to get bog ink and boil it and they used to colour stockings and flagon with it. They used to dig the butts of briars and boil them and they used to boil the wool or woolen cloth.
