    stories and tales of olden times.
    When they come in they take chairs and sit down and begin to talk to my parents. The conversation opens generally about someone who died recently or who is ill, in the neighbourhood or a discussion on the fairs in the nearest towns and the prices ruling. The weather and the crops are always discussed at length at night and also politics and happenings in foreign countries.
    In the winter the visitors come around seven o'clock and in Summer, when occasionally they do call about eight o'clock. There is one visitor who comes to our house and he is extremely funny indeed and I feel delighted when I hear him approach because he has very interesting
