- In olden times people sought cures for their ailments in herbs and in common things. The following were cures used in the district of Rockcorry.
Skin diseases — Bogbean tea, Ivy tea, Nettle tea, Birch bark tea, Cherry bark tea, Dock root tea.
Hoarseness and coughs — Blackcurrant, Raspberry drinks. Buttermilk and sugar warmed and taken.
Pleurisy — Nettles boiled and water drunk and the nettles leaves applied warm as a poultice is a cure for pleurisy.
