- The wild birds that are found around here, are seagulls, wood-pigeons, curlews, robins, wrens, cuckoos, and swallows. They visit other countries also, as well as here. A great number of the birds leave this district in Autumn, as they like to go abroad to a warmer country for the Winter. The robin, wren, blackbird, and sparrow, remain with us all the time. The robin is a great pet, and she comes around the doors and windows in the storm looking for crumbs. Some of the birds, build in bushes and hedges, and the swallow builds inside along the roofs of houses. The skylark builds in the grass, and the robin in shady banks with oak leaves strewed around.
