  1. Long ago the landlords owned the land and most of them were very severe.The rents were very high also.
    The man who was the ruler of Lisduff was the Marquis of Headfort, Mr Taylor by name. He was not severe with his tenants. There was a family evicted in Edenburt named "Tighe" & after being banished they put up a temporary shelter in the corner of a field with sticks and straw. They lived there for some time.
    If the farmer renovated his home the landlord raised the rent accordingly. No person was allowed to cut a tree without the landlord's consent and a severe punishment awaited anybody who broke this rule.
